Frankly, I thought that this movie would be OK but not great. I was a fan of "Shaun of the Dead" which was written by the same team and has many of the same cast, but didn't think that they could do a good parody of the cop / action genre.

I was wrong, it was hilarious. The lead character played by Simon Pegg, is "Nicholas Angel" a overachiever on the Metropolitan Police force, err, "service" since you know "force" implies violence ...

Angel is making the rest of the Met look bad, so they conspire to promote him and send him to a sleepy little village called Sandford.

A few of the jokes are British centric but most are sendups of cop / action film genre that are well done overall.

As for junk science, probably the usual nonsense about firearms and explosives effects, the usual physics discontinuities about bullet impacts and the usual cliche about natural gas explosions.

Watch out for swans.
