KGB Moderator	posted 07-18-2007 04:13 PM             I continue to be appalled by the media's ability to get even the simplest things wrong. Take this story: quote: Another tornado cannot be ruled out, but is less likely to happen in Manhattan, as opposed to the outer boroughs and suburbs. Tornadoes are caused by rotation in atmosphere from service winds flowing in opposite directions - where they meet they create a spin. No doubt the reporter asked some wonk about this, heard "service" instead of "surface", and was too friggin' dense to even wonder about it. edit: Oh, and they got the physics wrong, too.
