Link Color me skeptical. Diacetyl is used for artificial butter flavor because it's naturally found in butter. In fact, if memory serves, it's naturally found in almost any dairy product except fresh milk, and contributes part of their flavor. IP: Logged |

Part of the issue is the mechanism of exposure - Milk products tend not to be volaile, powdered diacetyl is. It is not the first time that lung disease can be attributed to a common harmless chemical Route of exposure is critical.
