It's 4:00 pm and I've just tuned into news. I see there're more fires in Cali -- with attendant evacuations. OK. Build in fringe forest areas, ban under cutting forests, don't let lightning fires burn and what the hell (sorry, Mrs Holt) do you expect? If you build on land on the Gulf of Mexico or on any east or west shoreline, hurricanes are going to deck you. The New Orleans disaster was inevitable. The San Andreas fault is going to eventually fail. Can we spell 'dumb,' children? Of course you can. Pumping billions of gallons into L.A. is just plain idiotic. I'm terribly sorry for the people who've lost everything, but I deplore their lack of a sense of reality. Humans can't trump nature. See global warming (which is or isn't happening).
