setnahkt Member	posted 04-29-2008 03:34 PM             I've been taking Niaspan for years now; 2 grams a day. It takes some getting used to. The complaints about flushing are correct, but even worse is skin itching, which is just awful. What's worked for me is: Work up gradually. I started with 250 mg Niaspan; when that bottle was empty I switched to 500 mg, then 750, and so on until I got up to 2000 mg. Take two aspirin about 30 minutes before you take the Niaspan. If you start to itch or flush, take two more. take after the evening meal and just before you go to bed. Nobody cares if your face turns red while you're asleep. Seems to drop cholesterol fairly dramatically; about 50 points for me. Whether dropping cholesterol actually does anything for you is, of course, another question. IP: Logged
