Does substituting other characters work instead of the percentage character? IP: Logged |

Sure, you could substitute the three characters 'pct' IP: Logged |

OK, smart a$$. I was thinking more HTML code violations than just abbreviations. Phooey. IP: Logged |

It appears to me that UBB uses the percent symbol for non-a→Z characters when assigning URL's,so the percent in the "Reply To" URL borked the engine. I'm guessing that others will not be a problem. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Web addresses have to be in Unicode for which there are special characters. Off the top of my head I would suggest not using: = used to assign a value to a variable For example if I wanted to use the equal sign I would have to encode it as %3D. IMO the software has a bug. The writers of the software should have converted the title to Unicode on a POST request. IP: Logged |

I did a reply to my last post and here is more then most want to know. The general structure is: parameter = variable Breaking down the address: Basic address which will precede all posts. action=reply Tells the server I am doing a POST request. & Seperates the next variable from the previous variable forum=Global+warming Defines the forum. The plus symbol is substituted for a space in Unicode. & number=2 Not sure what this variable is for. & topic=000952.cgi Looks like a index value (pointer) for the topic & TopicSubject=o+/+o+and/or++@/@ Topic name. & replyto=4 Tells which post I am responding to. First post is 0, second post is 1 ... IP: Logged |

Thanks Greg F and Alan. Works for me. Given various types of forum "codes" I know how things can be "borked" on the writer's end, let alone the admin side. Just wanted to know if any numerical, or creative configuration of could be put in a thread title with such characters(ie, & % $ or @), particularly percentages, and not screw things up.
