FEMA, that makes sense.

I always figured I could detach the blade and use it as a machete in the event of a national emergency.

How nuts, ignorant and unimaginative do you have to be to think the U.S. government is stockpiling guillotines for its reign of terror?

Guillotine is down. The device is sturdy and well made, but for a crucial flaw; the clamping mechanism for holding a magazine in place while you bring the blade down involves a screw engaging a nut welded to a steel plate. The screw is hardened; the nut isn't. What's more, the directions instruct you to tight the clamp firmly and give you a handle with considerable leverage to allow you to do so. I bought a replacement hardened nut and am going to try welding it on; I'm not a very good welder, though and fear I won't get the alignment right. I also will have to regarded the nut after welding destroys the temper.
