Little known fact; the UN and insects are meat

Ok, not the best link, however, the UN and WHO are getting together for insect recipes. Ok, we in the west don't go there, yet. However, there are forces in the food industry who are putting bug parts in our food as dietary supplements/GRAS ingredients. Chitin is a great probiotic. The rest of the bug is pretty much protein. But not a steak on the barbie.

Science 16 October 2015
Features
Buzz Food
A European research project has produced hundred of kilos of housefly larvae - maggots - for use as animal feed. Insects can feed on lots of agricultural organic waste - in one example cited, fresh chicken manure - and while people tend to be somewhat sketchy about the idea of eating insects, livestock, poultry and fish have no such compunctions. Once again, however, regulations are getting in the way; for example, in Europe any animals used for feed for other animals have to be killed in a certified slaughterhouse with an animal welfare officer present; Science comments this is "...a rule clearly not written with maggots in mind".
