This serial features the one and only Superman. From 1948 the first live action Superman movie. What's odd about this is Republic was a poverty row studio, yet was able to make Captain Marvel fly. Columbia, which was in much better financial shape, was unable to make Superman fly, so animation was used for the flying scenes.

Since Captain Marvel and Superman have been covered, here's the Batman serial from 1943. This is the first appearance of Batman on the silver screen.

Still sticking with comic book heroes. This serial features "Captain America". Filmed in 1944, this features "Captain America" as a District Attorney. Those of you familiar with the comic book and recent movie character, will probably get a laugh out of this, as the only resemblance to the comic book and recent movies is the costume.

This installment moves away from comic book heroes. This is one of Republic's finest. "Daredevils Of The Red Circle" gives three stuntmen a shot at feature roles, although some had feature roles in some B movies. This is worth watching, if you have the time, for the entertainment value. Note: there might be some racially insensitive material in this.

Once again, no trailer/preview available, so here is chapter one.

Today's serial is "Captain Video". Ranks in the bottom fourth of all movies, serial or feature. The TV show was very popular. The movie company didn't even use the same actors as the TV show.

Interested in codes? Here's an above average, for Columbia, serial. Filmed in 1942, it features The Black Commando. At the end of each chapter, an actor, in a military uniform, explains about codes.
