I watched it on Netflix and was pleasantly surprised. I quite enjoyed it. I had previously liked the animated version mostly because my Dad was a Kipling fanatic and hated it (what's not to like about Louis Prima). I think this version was truer to the book and my Dad might have grudgingly approved.

Things I didn't like...

Nature or nurture. Mowgli had a lot of access to technological information and a tool building facility that would put any other ten year old in the world to shame. He was able to bang two rocks together, collect a sharp shard and cut through a jungle vine to make a rope faster than I could open my jack knife.

King Louis was a gigantopithecus which had been extinct for at least 100,000 years before the story could have occurred. Kind of off putting despite Christopher Walken playing the part.
