By Thomas Rid. On page 3 of this new Camarillo library book the following article from Time is mentioned on page 3. http://content.time.com/time/magazine/a ... -1,00.html I was studying for my first college quarter system final late 1948 when I decided to goof off and read Time. In 1948 Time was first class with excellent weekly sections on science and medicine among other things. This article probably had a greater impact on me than any short piece I ever read. Chapter 1 of this history is devoted to World War 2, where Rid maintains that control and communication during wartime preceded Norbert Weiner. Chapter 2 is all Weiner. I was once startled to learn that the Weiner spectrum - of importance to information passage in x-ray diagnosis - was named after the same Weiner. Rid goes on to discuss organisms, culture, space etc. I have yet to get to Chapter 9, Fall of the Machines.
