Sanford judge rules in favor of motorist who flashed his headlights
Quote:
A judge in Sanford ruled Tuesday that a Lake Mary man was lawfully exercising his First Amendment rights when he flashed his headlights to warn neighbors that a deputy had set up a speed trap nearby.

That decision is another victory for Ryan Kintner, 25, who sued theSeminole County Sheriff's Officelast year, accusing it of misconstruing a state law and violating his civil rights, principally his right to free speech.

If, as the police always claim, speed cameras, traps, etc., were there to save lives and not generate revenue, shouldn't the police be happy that the light-flasher was causing the intended effect of slowing traffic?

If you're not careful, you're going to motivate me to pontificate on the detriments of this form of speech. That would be in neither of our interests. You'd have to wade through my arguments to potentially refute them, and worse still, I'd have to actually write them.

Do either of us actually want that? I would think not.

What would have been the consequences of banning flashing lights on American history? "... one if by land, two if by sea..."
