Used to calculate the position of Jupiter 4000 years ago.


The article describes a trapezoidal approximation to the motion of Jupiter. It's a numerical solution of a differential equation.

T'aint calculus, which is the study of infinitesimals and limits.

The original article calls it "first steps toward calculus". The research article is handicapped somewhat by showing all the calculations in the original base 60 arithmetic. What's going on is that the Babylonians have used two trapezoids to approximate the area under a continuous curve
