I don't believe these kinds of studies even on the occasions when they agree with my biases.

Hmmm. The equation to the right of the professor is for Dirac's constant, which is a rather odd thing to find on the blackboard of law professor. Could be, I suppose.

In further news, the man in the picture doesn't look much like Professor Kahan:

Link to the Yale Law School Cultural Cognition Project blog.

(No offense meant to the professor, but he reminds me of a close cousin to both David Selby and Kelsey Grammer.)

Ask the tea partiers how they feel about gender spectrums and evolution.

The Tea Party started out - or at least advertised itself as - tax reformers. As a Libertarian that was fine with me. Somehow they turned into a religion-based group.

Being literate about something doesn't necessarily mean you believe it.

The illustration with the article was taken from some film and is not Dr. Kahan.

The TEA Party did not turn into a religion based group. Some political candidates who rode the TEA Party popularity and adopted TEA Party inspired fiscal platform were also social conservatives. The media then used that to portray all TEA Party supporters as "religious extremists". As an aside, somehow religious concepts that even Bill Clinton professed and President Obama claimed until 2012 are now "extremist" positions.
