Not so much for the specific issue in this story - PCBs in school caulks - but for the vaccinations and other junk science many of those folks seem to believe. I can imagine a time in the not too distant future when some epidemic runs through Southern Cali wiping out or deforming thousands of people, mostly children and young adults, because they've stopped heeding any scientific recommendations at all. Maybe then we can nuke 'em?

So, what kind of geniuses do they think they should be raising out there?

Used to live in SoCal (Cali? Never was a thing back when I lived there.) They like to get all het up about things and be seen to 'spearhead' (a word I have begun to detest - I may punch an anthropologist if I can find one that looks weaker than me) crusades against the problem du jour. In the article, the only parent who seems to have any reason to remove her child was the woman with the kid who had a brain tumor and is more susceptible to things like that.
