____A few of the products listed below, are not yet ready for release. We list them here to give you a peek into the future.

____By the way ... we're always interested in discussing custom Filemaker projects ... especially database designs with statistical analyses, dynamic graphical presentations of data or results, and custom, cross platform, computerized survey design. You know ... the fun stuff.

Our Software Products

____Pallet-Picker 2, built with FileMaker Pro, is designed to help you avoid color problems that can irritate the people who visit your web site (or view your other form of graphic art). To start, it helps by giving you a perfectly coordinated pallet*, keyed to a principle color that you choose, with the RGB (or hex) code for each color in the pallet.
____And this version of Pallet-Picker, version 2, introduces an important new feature. It helps you select a text color that is readable by nearly everyone, over any given background color. This is a deceptively tricky problem. You cannot trust your eyes, where readability is concerned, because everyone sees differently.
____To do this, the program uses a statistical process to emulate many sets of human eyes, in addition to the existing W3C** legibility criteria. Clearly, this is an advance in the state of the art.

*** Pallet-Picker 2.1 is under development. It will present some useful data preservation features, for on-going projects or styles. It will also carry a higher price. However, upgrades to PP2.1, for registered users of PP2, will be at no charge.




____Reunion Search Software. "The ReUnionator," built with FileMaker Pro, is a new sort of tool, designed to help you organize the information you gather while chasing down people for a reunion. Reaching everyone who is reachable can be a daunting task, because so much information has to be tracked and communications between people working to accomplish this must be accessible until the work is done. This program also does the mailing labels, "Hello" badges, and the yadda yadda that other programs do, and costs less than some that only do labels. The price is only $40 per reunion! That is, for your reunion, the lead organizer and all helpers use their own copy of the program.

____The deScrabbler is a training program for scrambled word games.
____Basketball players become better shooters by shooting thousands of practice shots. Long lonely hours in the gym pay off at game time, when a skinny kid becomes known as a winner with a sweet shot.
____And now, players of scrambled word games, such as Scrabble® and the daily Jumble® puzzle, can do much the same. You can use the deScrabbler to do one de-scrambling after another, and push your skill to a higher level.
____The program works like this: Seven letters are drawn, matching the frequency distribution in the game Scrabble®, and the deScrabbler forms a list of all* of the possible six and seven letter words. You practice by finding as many of these words as you can.
____The price isn't set yet, but it'll probably be in the range of $5 to $10..

Note: * It uses an 80,000+ word dictionary. If the seven letters contain no six or seven letter words, seven new letters are drawn.


____************* A head behind the deScrabbler *************

____Multiple Guess for the Education Industry, built with FileMaker Pro, is a program that allows you to assemble intense, cheat-resistant, multiple choice exams which have many advantages over conventional exams. Among these:

1. Question orders may, if you wish, be varied randomly for each question sheet..


2. The number of answers can vary from two to eight, and each question may have multiple correct answers, allowing a more in-depth examination.


3. The value of guessing is eliminated by an "all errors" grading system. That is, the maximum potential score is reduced by every error, whether it is a wrong answer indicated or a correct answer not indicated.


4. As many versions of the exam as you wish (with some or all of the questions chosen by the program, balanced according to your difficulty rating) can be produced.


5. A specially designed, dauber-style answer sheet, which facilitates grading the "all errors" exams, is easily produced for each version of the exam.


6. The questions and answers are drawn from your archive but the useful life of your questions is greatly enhanced because of the random construction of the exams.

____Quality Assurance for the Aggregates Industry. "AgMon-8," built with FileMaker Pro, is as good as it gets for QA in the aggregates industry. Among other things, it uses a "trend of the mean" analysis which can help a QA department to contribute to production by heading off waste. Read more about it here. Evaluate it for yourself.
____AgMon has not won a single award. However, its* only user in Indiana has won more than half of the state-wide, Quality Production awards over the last ten years ... with better than a hundred other competing firms. I guess that's close enough.
____This version of AgMon, a subscription product, is designed for network operations so that your clients - if you wish it - can have access to your current gradation information and projections. Better gradation information can make your concrete making or asphalt making customers very happy, because that's money making information.

_____************* In a longer pipeline *************

____Project Management for Working Managers. "Of Mice and Men," built with FileMaker Pro, is one of my favorites, in part because it makes project management easier, and in part because I got to incorporate a well known poem by Bobby Burns. OMaM allows you to use CMP methods, to the degree you have real data, instead of speculation, but doesn't require that you take this approach. When you update effort applied or the percent complete for a task, or change task dependencies because of new information, the projected completion date and budget are updated in a flash.
____Of greatest interest to many working managers is the way that it helps with communications. You can keep your boss up to date by emailing a pdf format report, on whatever schedule he desires. It takes seconds, literally, and can eliminate some of those meetings that feel like they take days. If you're looking for something to put to work right now, this isn't your thing. I expect it will be at least four and perhaps as much as eight months before this is ready to go. But when it is ...
____At present, OMaM is a single user program, intended for one manager with one or many projects. If there's sufficient interest, we may develop a multi-user, networkable version.

Free Stuff

____Little things.. Small offerings of several sorts ... little, very inexpensive things, all built with FileMaker Pro.

• If you're a collector of quotes, you'll like the program designed for just that purpose. In addition to having room for however many quotes you'll want to add, it comes with more than 500 of my favorites.
• Perhaps you like to play video poker? If so, you may like our teaching version of the game - when it's finished. The teaching version, which emulates a video poker machine, is designed to help you learn to play better. The free version of Video Poker is located below, in the "Useful and Free" section.
• More coming ...

____"How to" examples for filemaker users. There are a range of files, some created under FMP7 or 8, some with FMP4 or earlier, some with with an old version but translated up to FMP7/8. Frankly, the aesthetics of some of the earlier files startles me. But it's interesting to see some of the workarounds that were useful in the days before complex relationships became available.

____Public service stuff. This includes a set of bound packages; Mac and Windows. You don't need FMP to run these packages, but your system must be at least either Mac OSX, or Win 2000. These packages are free, but protected, and cover a fairly wide range of areas.

• One of the packages is designed to collect blood pressure data, do some statistics so you can see trends, and allows you to easily email either the raw data, a tabular report or a pretty good graphic to your doctor.
• Another is the Permit Tracking file in the "How to" area, bound and ready to run without FMP.
• And more ...

____Fun stuff. This includes our Video Poker game, and some miscellaneous files that may be interesting, or fun, but not really useful.
